New Boots – Daily Style

Spent the day at the library researching African jewellery, ate fresh carrots and sundried tomato gluten free toast for lunch, just about to head to the gym and then off to have coffee with a friend. I then plan on drinking wine and having dinner with the Smaggles!

* Dress from DFO in Canberra

* Cardigan from Valley Girl in Canberra

* Obi belt thrifted from Salvos in Canberra

* Tights from Big W in Canberra

* Boots from Joanne Mercer in Canberra (I bought these yesterday and I love love love them!)

How is your Monday going angel?

Hammer time – Daily Style

It’s the end of the weekend and I’m utterly exhausted. The weekend was spent spoiling the shit out of Mr Smaggle for his birthday. I also slept for an obscene amount of time.

* Hammer pants from DFO in Melbourne

* Singlet top from Country Road in Melbourne

* Cardigan from Valley Girl in Canberra

* Earrings from Bijoux in Canberra

* Shoes Doc Martens from DFO in Melbourne

* Singlet by Metalicus

* Brooch Smaggle Made (It’s a black chip board square with a diamante ‘MJ’ design on it. I’m going to wear it for thirty days to mourn for my beloved Michael Jackson who I’ve been listening to non-stop for the past few days.)

This evening I’m going for a chilly jog around the lake, cooking an old fashioned meat and veg dinner for Mr Smaggle and getting ready for a busy week.

What are you up to my love?

P.S The winner of the armwarmer competition will be announced tomorrow! Good luck!

Captain Apricot and the Best Arm Warmers in the World…

A wee little while ago I received an email from a super gorgeous gal who has an Etsy store called Captain Apricot and she sells hand made armwarmers. She very kindly sent me a pair to road test and I have to say I’m literally in love. These babies have been with me since the day I received them. Last week I thought that I lost them and I was literally devastated. They are so warm and they scrunch beautifully around the wrist when worn. It makes SUCH a difference that they are made from wool. My arms have never been toastier! And I can easily hold a glass of Merlot without it slipping through my fingers. Absolute genius design.

AND to top it all off the gorgeous Captain Apricot is giving all Smaggle readers the chance to win a pair of super awesome armwarmers! Holy crap!

All you have to do to win is visit her store, mosey on over to the armwarmers section, pick which ones are your favourite (personally I’m all over the champagne shorties) and leave me a comment. Not just any comment. I want to know your favourite thing about Winter. And if ANYONE says ‘Hot chocolate in front of the fire place’ NO ARMWARMERS FOR YOU! Be creative people. Impress us! Don’t forget to tell us which armwarmers are your fave!

So…

1. Visit the store

2. Pick your favourite armwarmers

3. Make a comment on Smaggle saying what your favourite thing is about Winter

It’s that easy!

You have until Wednesday at midnight to leave your comment. The Captain and the Lady will then decide the winner and it will be announced later this week.

Oh the excitement!

Show us your Blog Spot!

I got tagged for this Daddy Likey project AGES ago and because I’m lame I’m only just doing it now. Frocks and Frou Frou – I’m so sorry it took so long but here it is.

My blog spot…

This is where I spend most of my time blogging these days. Either on my Melbourne couch or Mr Smaggle’s Canberra couch. On the table next to me (fashioned from an abandoned street sign and a few neglected boxes of beads) is a glass of mineral water (my new favourite) and our fish tank. Our fish are called Tae (after Roomy Smaggle), Simon (after her man), George from George’s Marvelous Medicine and an unnamed ’special needs’ fish that’s missing an eye and has a strange growth on his face. Simon knows I work with kids with special needs and that I adore them so he thought he’d buy me a special needs fish. Bless.

My lame daily outfit is…

* Really old jeans from Cotton On

* Cardigan from Supre

* ‘I’m beached as bro’ singlet top

* Scarf from Sportsgirl

* Glasses from vintage store on Gertrude Street

Best be off my lovelies… I promise you more outfit shots soon!

Winter wish list…

It’s flipping freezing here in Smaggle-land and having been recently stimulated (damn it I love saying that) I’m heading out this weekend to buy some winter goodies that I’ve had my eye on…

* Shredded black skinny jeans. And a myriad of colourful tights to wear underneath.

* A massive chunky gray cardigan. Natural fibers only.

* A perfect beige coat. Although I am the biggest spiller on this earth so it’s probably not the most practical of ideas.

* Comfortable boots with a heel. Don’t hate me but I’m considering Kumfs. They are hideously expensive (for me anyway) but I can’t go past the granny thumbs up.

* Statement suede gloves. In lavender or magenta.

* Tasselled scarves to wear turban style wrapped around my head. Super toasty. Plus I can be a goob and wash my hair less.

* Basic thick socks. I NEVER buy socks and I have no idea why.

* A black mohair roll neck jumper.

* Delicious winter pyjamas. My ugg-boots are getting lonely.

So kitten features, what’s on your list for these chilly months???

Ugg Boots – To be? Or not to be?

Gala asks the question – Do you wear ugg-boots in public? Well, the lovely people over at Whooga sent me a pair of boots for my perusal so I’ve happily taken the challenge of road testing them. Tis the perfect weather to do so after all..

I have to say that ugg-boots have eluded me for many years. I have dancer calves (which are similar to those of a sherpa) so boots rarely look good wrapped around my brick-like lower legs. I also have a serious aversion to looking sloppy in public. This didn’t stop me from gleefully unwrapping my Whooga boots and pulling them onto my chilly feet the second that they arrived.

Made from merino wool they are super toasty and mega comfy. The sole is a little stiff but after a week of wear they are starting to soften. These are the boots that I was sent (despite heavily hinting for these ones - cute!) and they are very traditional tan, long ugg-boots. I do agree with Gala that ugg-boots are far more acceptable in black. I can handle tan but that’s just because I’m a purest and I’d do chocolate because I love pretty much anything in chocolate. I’m certainly not a fan of the pastel colours but I imagine that if I was ten years old there’s not much else in the world that I could want.

These boots are the first thing that I put on in the morning and the last thing that I take off before I get into bed at night. I even slip them back on when I duck out for my midnight bathroom visit. These boots have made a trip to the letter box and recycle bin but have gone no further. I wouldn’t be beyond wearing them to a friend’s house but I have a hard enough time driving as it is without two merino wool pillow-boots strapped to my feet.

All in all I have to say – BUY SOME FREAKING UGG-BOOTS!!! You really won’t regret it. And do consider Whooga – they are made with Australian Merino sheepskin and there is a handy sizing guide to make sure you get it right. The boots arrived REALLY quickly and it’s difficult to find ugg-boots for sale in real life so internet buying will really help you out. I thought mine were a little big at first but they don’t size down as much as other ugg-boots and after a week they are still fitting well. Oh and Whooga are running a competition to win a free pair of boots follow the instructions here.  I’ve been wearing them for a week straight and I have to say they are pretty tops. They are definitely staying inside my apartment though. I’m so not cute enough to pull them off in public…

Tonight I’m wearing…

* Vintage kimono from Material Pleasures

* Vintage slip thrifted from Salvos

* Obi belt thrifted from Salvos

* Ugg-boots from Whooga

* Glasses from a second hand store on Gertrude St. I have to wear safety glasses in the jewellery workshop but I find them so uncomfortable so I bought clear lens glasses. How adorable are they?

School was a bit average today and my afternoon is turning out to be the same. I started a month long health kick today so perhaps my body is mourning for cheap red wine…

* Tights from Kmart

* Singlet top from Supre

* Long Sleeve top from Target

* Knit top thrifted from Salvos in Canberra

* Leather jacket from Target

Sushi and assignments – Daily Style

I know that I look slightly like a creature of the underworld but I’m aiming for that I’m too cool and nonchalant look. It never works for me.

* Skirt thrifted from Salvos

* T-shirt from DFO in Canberra

* Obi belt from DFO in Melbourne

* Scrunchy tights from Itrip Iskip

* Shoes thrifted from Salvos

* Coin necklace from Poppy Smaggle

* Earrings gift from a friend

This evening Mr Smaggle and I went to the gym, ate sushi for dinner and now I’m just about to work on my assignment.

Oh and I had a reader comment recently that all my photos are so posed and asking why I don’t smile or look more candid. If I relax in front of the camera I look like this.

Enough said.
