Vivienne Westwood - Controversy on the catwalk?

Read this from today’s Sydney Morning Herald.
I’m undecided as to whether this is really cool or really innapropriate. Don’t get me wrong, I love Viv. We go way back. I love a sister who rocks lace like an Empress on crack. The question is this - Is the catwalk a fair avenue for political messages? Particularly messages that are entirely unrelated to fashion?
What do you think?

Persoanlly, I think “good on her”. I realise the catwalk is for fashion, but then again, if you’ve got something important to say, why not break the rules.
I guesss fashion is like art, and art can be very political sometimes, so why not

that is tough. one thought is that it is her show, she can do as she pleases but then the other thought is, it totally takes away from the fashion. at least for me. i clicked the link and didn’t even notice the fashion. i am a bit torn.
Ivy - I agree that art can be very political but I see designers these days as more of celebrities than artists. She is in such a high profile position that she would be able to make a statement in places other than the catwalk. Having said that it is her show and she can do what she wants.
Amy - I agree. I think she may have jeopardised her collection by making a political statement that was more interesting than the clothes.
