Mary-Kate and Ashley

I’m not so much fascinated by the fact that these girls were millionaires before they could use a proper toilet but more by the fact they are so small. It is amazing to me that Mary-Kate can wear Balenciaga bricks on her feet and still barely skim the shoulder of anyone she is standing next to. She is tiny. Those extra large Starbucks drinks aren’t really that big she just makes them look like novelty toys. I have to admit I do love Mary-Kate’s shaggy/homeless look but when I try to wear oversized jumpers and shawls I look like a massive sherpa carrying a wounded goat on her back. I was gloating in my head a few moments ago thinking ‘Yeah well she’s so short she’d look really stupid in a long dress’. Then I found this photo. I stand corrected.

Michael Jackson Beat It

I am not really a t-shirt kind of girl but I couldn’t resist this one from Threadless. My office buddy Browny and I often order things from the Internet at the same time and have them sent to our office. Much hugging and squealing ensues once our goods arrive and it was no different when our Threadless package came last week. It’s just like the jacket! I just need my sequined white glove and chimp called Bubbles and I’m set.

Daily Style

wednesday-26th.jpg

Today I worked and then I bought a lamington roll for my Dad to cheer him up. Tonight I am going to have Japanese food for dinner and then I am going to a play. I’m also going to finish some up some styling things for the wedding this weekend.

Top 5 Style Wish List

1. Flat Ankle Boots - At the beginning of the whole ankle boot craze I bought a pair of grey suede boots with a fairly substantial heel becasue I felt like Melanie Griffiths in Working Girl while wearing  them. I don’t wear them very often because they hurt my feet and  make me look like a weird Willy Wonka stretched-in-the-T.V amazon woman. So I have decided I need a pair of little flat pixie-esque boots like these ones…

2. The Perfect White T-Shirt - You know the one I am talking about. Loose fitting but not baggy, man style cut but with a large neckline. And quite thin material but still flattering without showing off all your lumps and bumps. Like this one from American Apparel (which is now available in Australia!)…

3. Mid Size heels - I am a freaky five foot 8 girl with dancer’s posture so needless to say I am huge. And while all my fabulous heels and stacked platforms look fantastic when I am alone in front of my mirror it’s quite a different story when I am in public amongst the normal sized folk. I want a lovely pair of kitten-ish sized heels in a neutral colour like tan or brown. Like these gorgeous ones on Etsy…

4. Crispy White Knickerbockers - What a quirky alternative to the white summer dress! I have been wanting a pair of these for ever. Unfortunately you need legs up to your armpits and below zero body fat to pull them off but how wonderful they would look with a relaxed fit singlet top and roman sandals. These ones are sized for little girls but they so funky…

5. Red Heart Shaped Sunnies - I like these ones in particular because the shape is soft and they aren’t glittery some other ones I have found. Strictly to be worn with a head scarf while sucking a red lolly pop…

Yesterday was my birthday and Mr Smaggle made me pancakes and gave me THE BEST FREAKIN PRESENT IN THE WORLD!!! A Kenneth Jay Lane double tiger head bangle just like the one Diana Vreeland had! We also went to the movies and wandered around Floriade - it was delightful. Seriously this bangle goes with everything. I am going to wear it everyday for the rest of my life.

“Don’t stop the music or I’ll tell my father!”

dianevreelandpic.jpg

Diana Vreeland - she is magnificent. I recently purchased a turban on Ebay that I plan to wear to my bizarre fashion party on Saturday. My fellow fashion addicts would swear that said turban was purchased in emulation of the Prada 07 collection but let me assure you this is not so. My turban was purchased after reading every single Diana Vreeland book I could lay my hands on (Amazon - I am still really angry at you) and staring in utter amazement at how commandingly elegant Diana is. And look at all her bangles! And her long long nails! I never thought anyone could make smoking look so cool (it’s not cool though so don’t do it). She is ever poignant stating that without emotion, there is no beauty and living her life surrounded by splendour despite not being able to afford it. She died in 1989 from ambiguous health complications. The title of this post were her last words.

Cheeky Smaggle

After re-reading my Fashion Rant Friday post yesterday I have come up with a cheeky idea for my blog. Every Friday I am going to wear something really weird to work and see if I can get away with it. I choose Friday because it’s casual anyway and also I will have had a good four days of appropriate attire to back me up so I won’t get fired. I am thinking things like a tiara, false eyelashes, a MASSIVE corsage or Edie Sedgwick crazy big earrings. I will post a photo of the item and then do a write up of the response (or lack of response) from co-workers. Oh I can’t wait!
